All roads lead home at Christmas. And with family and friends gathered together after a long absence, the celebration can take
on a "fiesta" air, with
much celebrating. There is early
breakfast al fresco with "bibingka" and "puto bumbong" after a series of "simbang gabi". An appealing spread on the table awaits,
party after party . Even food gifts are much too tempting. It’s a challenge to resist all the gorgeous food .
There is nothing wrong in enjoying an indulgent treat, but be smart and keep
your appetite in tow. These helpful tips will help you enjoy the season without worrying about your health:
- Focus on activities,
not on the food. Go caroling, set time
for a family portrait and include your
pets , Christmas stories to your kid...
- Bring something healthy, including a healthy
dessert to the party.
- Don’t starve yourself. Eat before going to a party.
- Limit alcoholic drinks.
- Start with a
salad.
- Chew your food slowly and deliberately. This will make
you feel full sooner.
- Try not to go back for seconds.
- Allow yourself some indulgence. Portions will be
manageable.
- In your free time, walk, walk, walk!
- Find time to relax and spend quality time together.
